The holy man prayed all day and night to heaven above.
He had given up all worldly pleasures and possessions, save the threads that he wore. He had retreated from society many, many years ago and lived alone in a remote hut which few even knew existed.
He worshipped the almighty god above, praying to be closer to him. "I am but a humble being. Thou art the everlasting. Let me be one with you dear God. Please release me from my physical wants. I await the day when I shed this body and rejoin you again."
He prayed when he awoke in the morning. He prayed as he watched the day. He prayed as he ate his meager bread and berries. He prayed as he watched the sunset. And he prayed as he fell asleep.
His body failed one day, and his soul rose to heaven.
At the heavenly council of review the holy man's life was noted for his shedding of false physical wants and for his focus on god.
The question was then posed, "How did you use your spiritual awareness while on Earth?"
The wisdom was then provided, "Instead of praying to god, you should have listened to him instead."
"A candle burning brightly in a corner of a room brightens only that corner. A candle moved to the center of a room illuminates further and can be shared with others."
The holy man knew he would need to return to Earth again.
